Japan acquires format for The Sniffer

On November 11, 2016, a major television channel and producer in Japan signed an agreement with the distributer of the television series The Sniffer – WTW Films Limited – to purchase the rights for an adaptation of the program.

The Sniffer is an original Ukrainian series, which premiered in 2013. The program went to the top of the ratings both in Ukraine and Russia. The show claimed a 30% audience share on Russia’s Channel One after it was aired in December 2016, and received the highest ratings on Russian television in the last five years.

Rights to broadcast the original version of the series have so far been sold in more than 60 countries all over the world.

“It's a great honor for us that such a large and globally recognized company has shown an interest in our series,” said Victor Mirsky, General Producer at WTW Films Limited. “This is a significant moment for the entire Ukrainian television industry.We genuinely believe The Sniffer will be a success in Japan.”

In August 2016, WTW Films Limited concluded an agreement for the rights to publish books and games based on The Sniffer in Japan.
