Japanese company acquires rights to release games and apps based on The Sniffer

On August 12, 2016, WTW Films Limited sold the rights to produce and release games and apps based on The Sniffer in Japan, as part of the show’s distribution. Under the agreement, the rights holder can develop any type of game or app, including application games and related apps, online games, consumer games, arcade games and toy games, and release them using special platforms and entertainment shops exclusively in Japan, as well as adapt this content for other territories under non-exclusive rights.

“The video game and mobile app industry is booming in Japan,” said Kateryna Vyshnevska, Head of Development at WTW Films Limited. “We are delighted and proud that, despite the fact they have many of their own stories and characters, Japan turned to us for The Sniffer. We hope the games and apps based on The Sniffer will be as popular among gadget users as the program is among Japanese television viewers.”

The Sniffer is one of the most popular television series in Ukraine and Russia, and was first aired in 2013. The second season was released in 2015, while filming began for the third season in August 2016. In the three years since the program’s inception, broadcasting rights to the original version have been sold in over 60 countries, including Japan. The Asian television premiere of The Sniffer took place in July 2014.
