WTW Films Limited have started shooting Finding Hope, a 12-episode drama. The series is set to have its television premiere in 2017.
“At the heart of the story is a family trying to escape from a sect. One plotline follows a fictional religious society which rejects the benefits of civilization, and the other, of course, is a love story. I am confident we will end up with a good film thanks to the original and engaging script, excellent cast, and great film crew,” says director Sergei Krutin.
Filming will take place at the Korostyshiv quarry, the Novogorodetsky quarry, and in Kiev, and will continue until the end of 2016. The main roles will be played by Alexander Yatsko, Rimma Zyubina and Nadezhda Markina.
Synopsis:
18-year-old Varya lives a secluded life with her parents in a religious sect. From an early age, this young girl is taught to work hard, put her faith in God and prayer, and be absolutely obedient to the head of the community, His Holiness. He has specifically chosen her to become his fourth wife. But neither force nor the persistent bullying of His Holiness’s ‘older’ wives can break the girl’s will.
She runs away in the hope of bringing him to justice in the outside world, despite the fact that she knows nothing about life out of the bounds of the community. With the help of his henchmen and the police, His Holiness searches for the girl. She is a living witness to his wrongdoings – and he also happens to be completely in love with her. The rules of the street are merciless to newcomers, but life in the underground turns Varya from a weak and frightened girl into a strong and determined young woman.
She is always a step ahead of her pursuers. But will that be enough to escape His Holiness and get her younger sister out of the sect?
